Write a new document

Describe what you need. Create a Word document, PDF, PowerPoint presentation or Excel file. PowerPoint includes built-in designs.

Change a part. Keep the rest.

Open a Word file and select whole paragraphs. Describe the change, compare Before and After, then save as a new file. Removed words are crossed out in red; added words are green. Everything outside the selected part stays unchanged.

Removed or merged paragraphs are called out. Tables and other unsupported parts stay read-only, with a reason.

Pull information into Excel

Choose Word files or PDFs with readable text. Confirm the columns, extract the information and inspect the source evidence before saving your spreadsheet.

One row per source file. Highlighted values and reading problems require review.

Extracted values come with source quotes and references. Select a cell in the app to inspect its evidence. Reading problems and values needing review stay visible.

Start at step 2.

    Have your local AI ready

    Install Ollama and download a model. We recommend a model with at least 8 billion parameters (8B+).

    Open Simplicitor

    Download the Windows installer or portable ZIP. Start Ollama, open Simplicitor, then select your local model in Settings.

    Choose the work

    Create a file, edit a Word document, or pull information into Excel. Follow the steps in the app.

Windows required. A GPU with 8 GB of video memory is recommended, not required. Microsoft Office is not required by Simplicitor.

A few practical questions

What can I edit?

Standard Word documents (.docx). Select a continuous range of whole body paragraphs. Tables, headers, footers and paragraphs containing unsupported elements are shown read-only. Excel and PowerPoint editing are not available.

Can I extract information from scanned PDFs?

Not yet. Extraction accepts Word documents and PDFs with a usable text layer. Scanned PDFs and image-only pages need a separate OCR step, which Simplicitor does not currently provide.

Which languages are supported?

English is the tested language. Other languages may work with your model, but they are not tested or claimed as supported.

Can I use it commercially?

Yes. Simplicitor 2.0.0 onward is licensed under MIT. Bundled libraries retain their own licenses. Read the license ↗

Is this website an online document editor?

No. This page explains the Windows app. Its examples are fictional illustrations. There is no document upload or AI processing on this website.
